Old East Village (OEV)

A Revitalized Gem in London’s Core

Old East Village—fondly known as OEV—is a vibrant, eclectic neighborhood nestled just east of Downtown London, Ontario. Bordering Blackfriars, this dynamic community has undergone an inspiring transformation, positioning itself as one of the most desirable places to live in the city’s urban core.

Historic Charm Meets Modern Living

OEV’s rebirth is the result of a thoughtful revitalization movement. Its streets now tell a dual story: one of historic elegance and another of contemporary flair. Restored heritage homes sit alongside sleek modern developments, creating a visual harmony that appeals to both traditionalists and trendsetters.

A Community with Heart

What truly sets OEV apart is its unwavering sense of community. Neighbors gather at weekly farmer’s markets, pitch in at local events, and engage in grassroots initiatives. Driven by the dedicated OEV Community Association, the neighborhood fosters a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and pride—a rare find in an urban setting.

A Cultural Canvas

Creativity flows freely in Old East Village. The area is teeming with artistic expression—from murals splashed across alley walls to performances at the historic Palace Theatre, a cornerstone of local entertainment. Galleries like TAP Centre for Creativity serve as incubators for visual and performing artists, while studios, pop-up exhibits, and community art projects keep the area’s cultural pulse beating strong.

Pockets of Green and Serenity

Despite being an urban neighborhood, OEV embraces nature. Residents enjoy access to several lush green spaces, including Boyle Memorial Community Centre Park and Lorne Avenue Park. These spots offer recreational amenities and quiet corners for reflection. Plus, the nearby Thames River and its scenic trails are perfect for walking, cycling, and soaking in peaceful riverfront views.

The Rise of Local Enterprise

Thanks to its revitalization, OEV has become a magnet for entrepreneurs and small businesses. The Dundas Street corridor, once overlooked, is now a bustling artery filled with cafés, boutique shops, and locally owned eateries. Each business contributes to the village’s unique character and draws visitors from across the city.

An Ideal Spot for Students and Families

OEV’s proximity to Fanshawe College adds a lively, youthful energy to the community. Students appreciate the area’s accessibility and affordability, while families value the educational options and family-friendly atmosphere. It’s a neighborhood where people of all generations find something to love.

Diverse and Affordable Housing

A key feature of OEV is its wide range of housing options. Whether you’re in the market for an affordable rental, a cozy starter home, or a fully renovated century house, the neighborhood delivers. The variety makes it especially appealing to young professionals, artists, and first-time homebuyers eager to plant roots in a vibrant urban environment.

A Bright Future Rooted in Community

Old East Village stands as a model for successful neighborhood revival. With its blend of history, culture, affordability, and community-driven growth, OEV isn’t just a place to live—it’s a place to belong. For those seeking a dynamic, inclusive, and inspiring corner of London, Ontario, OEV is ready to welcome you home.

If you’re an athlete, at any level, you’ll want to meet Brooke.  Brooke Edwardson’s resume and skillset with athletes is extensive, and recently she added to her resume with a Masters in Advanced Health Care Practice in Sports and Exercise Medicine (AHCP-SEM) from Western University.   While in the program,  Brooke focused on all aspects of delivering comprehensive sports medical coverage for a wide variety of venues.  Additionally, she completed research on ACL-related injuries based on playing surface types in collaboration with several sports medicine and surgical physicians.  Brooke says the experience gave her one-of-a-kind insight into the risks, prevention strategies, and  keys to post-ACL surgical rehabilitation at the highest of levels.

Having originally graduated with a Masters of Physiotherapy from Western, Brooke has quickly developed into one fo London’s brightest and most dynamic sports physiotherapists. Brooke sees patients both on and off the field and when in clinic, she chooses to treat at Pro Function’s sports injury clinic due to the fact that the facility has 40,000 sq ft of turf and two weight-training areas which allows her to really challenge her patients as they return to activity/sport.

Professionally, Brooke has worked in various formats with Skate Canada, the Toronto Rock, at both the Canada Games and the Ontario Summer Games, with the Toronto Triathlon, St George Rugby, Great Lake Canadians (GLC) Baseball, and right here in London as the lead physiotherapist with FC London. Additionally, Brooke works as a consultant for GM Canada and feels the physicality and endurance required with line-side work mimics many of the soft tissue injuries commonly associated with the training errors seen in athletes.

Outside of the clinic, Brooke loves finding creative ways to stay active and is up for the challenge of trying out a new sport or skill.  She enjoys running, rock climbing, hiking, water sports, and of course soccer!  She also loves to travel and spend time with family and friends.
